Dafer Sief
Dafer Sief is an independent refugee and human rights advocate. Originally from Syria, Dafer was displaced and has been living in Malaysia since 2012. He is the founder of the Syrian Refugee Network, and a leader in Refugee Action for Change (ReAct), a refugee-led organisation working collectively to advocate for refugee rights in Malaysia. Dafer also works as an expert trainer with the Asia Pacific Network of Refugees (APNOR) to provide training on meaningful refugee participation of refugees in decision-making processes, policies, and programs that directly impact their lives. Dafer holds professional certificate in social work from Utah University, and is pursuing his master’s in International Relations from Liverpool John Moores University. Dafer is leading AMERA’s outrach work with refugee-led organisations.
