Christophe Serra Mallol has 15 years of experience living and working in French Polynesia. From 1998 to 2003, he was the associate director of a research consultancy (Louis Harris Pacifique) and following this, worked as a freelancer for his own socio-economic research consultancy. He worked as Chief of Staff and technical advisor for the Ministry of Tourism and Economy from 2003-2005 and taught at various institutions, including the University of French Polynesia, where he completed his PHD, entitled ‘Social Change and Dietary Traditions. A socio-anthropological approach to food in Tahiti’, in 2007. He participated in the General Assembly of Overseas Territories as head of one of the working groups from 2009-2010. He has carried out extensive socio-economic research into food, the homeless, street prostitution and subjective well-being in French Polynesia.
